Trump MAGA pick held daughter’s toy bunny 'hostage for 48 hrs': GOP senator

A Republican backed by President Donald Trump amid abuse allegations is facing a scathing new accusation from a GOP senator, who is also his former father-in-law, alleging that he held his daughter's favorite toy "hostage for 48 hours."

Rep. Max Miller, an Ohio Republican, is facing intensifying calls to resign from Congress amid accusations from his ex-wife, Emily, that he physically abused her and their daughter. After initially remaining silent on the issue, her father, Ohio GOP Sen. Bernie Moreno, spoke out against his son-in-law, saying that he needed mental help and calling on him to leave office.

Miller, in response, has maintained that the allegations against him are false and part of a smear campaign. He was also previously accused of physically abusing former Trump White House aide Stephanie Grisham, though Trump stood by Miller's campaign for Congress and called him "a good person." Now, reports indicate that Trump told Miller that his reelection campaign is not "looking good."

On Tuesday, CBS News correspondent Caitlin Huey-Burns took to X with new comments from Moreno, in which he claimed to have picked up his granddaughter from Miller at a police station, citing concerns "because I don't know what this guy's capable of." During the exchange, Moreno accused his ex-son-in-law of refusing to hand over his daughter's favorite toy, a stuffed blue rabbit, saying that he "literally held it hostage for 48 hours."

"This girl is crying at night because she can't sleep without her little blue bunny," Moreno added. "And his answer is, 'I'm just not going to give it to you.' So finally...yesterday, he lets the little blue bunny go. This is the level of total and complete depravity."

He continued: "This is truly the seventh level of hell[.] My daughter lives in constant fear of this man, not like something that's existential, but deeply in her heart, she fears what this guy is capable of."

Emily Moreno has accused her ex-husband of several instances of physical abuse, including allegedly beating her during a custody dispute in February, leaving bruises on her arm, elbow and torso, all in view of their two-year-old daughter. She also accused him of throwing boiling water on her, also in front of their daughter, and once holding a gun to her head during an argument. She further accused him of once breaking their daughter's collarbone.

“As a father and husband, I can tell you the last two years have been pure hell for my wife Bridget, our daughter Emily, me, and our entire family in the aftermath of Emily's divorce,” Moreno wrote in a post on X. “It has been horrific to watch this play out in full public view, all while knowing an innocent two-year-old girl is caught in the middle,” Moreno added. “Our priority has always been protecting our daughter and our granddaughter. Out of concern for the safety of my family, I hoped to keep this matter private but Max Miller’s increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior has made that impossible.”
