A state GOP lawmaker who lost his race was among the many Republicans unhappy with President Donald Trump after the blue wave midterms, taking out his frustration with a profane suggestion about what Trump ought to do to help the party.

Ryan Gonzalez is a Colorado State Representative who has served the state's 50th District, situated a few miles north of Denver, since winning the seat by unseating a Democratic incumbent in 2024. His tenure in office is set to be short-lived, however, as he was among the droves of Republican state-level lawmakers voted out of office on Election Night, part of a widespread repudiation of Trump and the GOP by voters. His seat will be taken over by Democrat Tommy Butler, a former city councilman from the district's main municipality, Greeley, who secured around 60 percent of the vote.

In the wake of his wipeout defeat, Gonzalez took to his official X account to vent his anger at Trump, suggesting in vulgar terms that Republicans would be better off if the president just shut up.

"Mr. President, you would be more effective if you would just shut the f—— up," Gonzalez posted.

Earlier in the night, Gonzalez took aim at more of his fellow Republicans, accusing them of failing to govern in conservative fashion and demanding they "act right."

"Let this be a lesson to Republicans who campaign like libertarians and Govern like liberals and fail to pass anything the people voted them in office to do," he wrote. "Act right. Embarrassing."

Later in the evening, he also claimed in a post that his race was far from over.

"Only 59 percent of the vote has been counted for HD50," he posted. "Most of them are enthusiastic Dems. We project the gap will narrow and it will still be a close race. Race will not be called for a few days."

Throughout election night, as the scale of the disaster for Republicans became clear, Trump began to lash out at the rest of the party and the conservative press, pinning the blame squarely on them for the blue wave.

""The FoxNews Poll, always the worst, is so insulting with the questions they ask,” one of his Truth Socia posts read. “Every question is a hit job, and every answer is “BULLS——!” This has been going on for years.

He added in another post: “FoxNews Ratings are way down (27 percent!) because they’re spending too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats!” Trump wrote. “All of those people who used to watch Fox, and no longer do, get it. It’s them, not me — my numbers are better than they have ever been.”
