Former Republican and MAGA trooper Joe Walsh says President Donald Trump is very much a buffoon — but now he’s a dangerous buffoon.

“Trump's an idiot. He's a very stupid person, and we're used to it. We're used to him giving a speech. We're used to him at his rallies where damn near nothing he says makes any kind of sense, because he is an idiot. But he's the President of the United States,” said Walsh on his Tuesday podcast.

“It's a little bit high,” said Trump speaking at a Nebraska rally about rising gas prices and inflation. “It's a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe. They can take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay. And it's going to be over very soon.”

Trump’s statement has sparked outrage for that quote, but the former Chicago congressman said did more than misspeak.

“The point he was trying to make was ‘we can't let them take out an American city because that's what would happen if Iran had a nuke. So, we can't let them take out an American city. We can't let him take out a city like Los Angeles or San Diego.’ That's, right, rising gas prices, because that's what we got to avoid. We can't let Iran take out an American city.”

“But that's not what he said,” ranted Warsh. “What he said was, ‘let Iran take out Los Angeles. Let Iran take out San Diego.’ Trump gets zero benefit of the doubt. Trump is an inarticulate idiot. … Anybody with a brain — anybody whose brain wasn't pudding — would have said, ‘Iran could, if they had a nuke, take out an American city. Can you imagine if they bombed and took out at Los Angeles? Can you imagine if they bombed and took out San Diego?’ That's what a president with a functioning brain would have said. … [But] this is the President of the United States, seemingly welcoming the country of Iran to bomb two American cities.”

Walsh repeated that “Trump's brain is pudding” and “he's rapidly losing his mind every day,” but he’s “also a sociopath” who doesn’t care about anybody, and that not enough people realize this of take the threat seriously.

“I get that there's an outrage machine out there. A lot of people making a lot of money getting outraged every time Donald Trump opens his mouth. I get that. … But you know what? There are a whole bunch of people who've normalized who this guy is, who purposely refuse to get outraged by anything he does or says,” said Walsh.

But Trump, he said, “is not just a bad American president. He's America's enemy. He's a traitor to this country.”

Worse, said Walsh was not just that the current president of the United States told Iran to blow up two American cities. The bigger picture here, and the bigger problem for this country, was that reaction from Trump’s MAGA audience.

“Those Americans in Nebraska, cheering and laughing at what the president said,” said Walsh bitterly. “I got very little patience for people who tell me this country is not as divided as we all think it is. This country is plenty divided. This country is dangerously divided. And all you needed to do was listen to those folks in Nebraska last night.”
