Trump

The anchors of right-wing network Newsmax appeared to be trembling in trepidation and dressing wounds Tuesday night as closing polls indicated devastation to Trump’s Congressional majority.

Lobbyist and former White House Political Director Matt Schlapp was on-hand Tuesday night to explain how Democrats appeared to be making impressive gains early in vote tallies and threatening House and Senate seats across the nation.

“It's the, it's the great irony,” complained Schlapp. “Joe Biden caused this problem. And the line — Democrats will win a lot of races tonight because they were somehow able to bamboozle the American people that it was Donald Trump's policies that aren't solving the problem.”

“It is just that it's the lying part of politics that makes people go crazy. But the fact is, is this, which is Donald Trump, no matter what happens tonight, is going to be the president for two more years. He's going to get budget bills that only need 50 votes in the Senate. And I still think we hold on to this majority in the Senate, and they're going to have to deal with this man who might be in a foul mood after traveling all over this country. Having a million rallies and seeing socialists win some races with the intent of destroying this country,” Schlapp said.

Senator Rick Santorum was also on-hand to snipe at Democrat victories, complaining that the party will no doubt squander the victories it accrued tonight at the expense of President Donald Trump.

“Knowing the Democrats, I mean, what they're going to do is not focus on reducing the inflation rate or reducing grocery prices or anything else, certainly now reducing gas prices,” grumbled Santorum. “I mean, their policy under Biden was to actually deliberately to increase them. And what they're going to do is they're going to probably investigate Donald Trump, impeach Donald Trump, you know, make this all about driving — Donald Trump is the only thing they have that helps them win elections and helps energize their base. It's not the policies. Their policies were not on were not what this election was about.”

Analysts say Santorum is right about Democrats being able to thank Trump for their victories tonight and high Democratic turnout.

A veteran of Washington’s election-forecasting scene predicted Trump’s Republican Party was in for a “hell of a beating” in the midterms as voters head to the polls.

Charlie Cook, who has been calling races since Reagan was reelected in 1984, told The New Republic’s Greg Sargent that he has never seen an election quite like this in 42 years, and he put his prediction bluntly, foreseeing a Trump-GOP “a—— whupping.”
