'Democracy is a decision': New campaign ad in PA Senate race stresses voter participation

John Fetterman, a Democratic Senate candidate in Pennsylvania gridlocked in an election battle against Dr. Mehmet Oz, has been featured in a new campaign ad expressing concern about the current state of America's democracy.

On Tuesday, October 4, the campaign ad was shared via Twitter by the Democratic Coalition. The political action committee warned that democracy is not guaranteed in the United States. It is a conscious decision that voters must make.

The ad featured multiple clips of Fetterman as it highlighted the current problems in America and how the country has politically devolved since 2016.

"The last six years have taught us that democracy is a decision," the commentator could be heard saying. "It doesn't just happen like gravity or the sunrise. Democracy happens because Pennsylvanians, like you, decide that's the kind of country they want to live in.

The commentator adds, "When you vote for John Fetterman, you're making that decision. He'll fight for democracy, women's rights, your family's healthcare... He'll work for working people. Make it happen. In Pennsylvania, elect John."

In other tweets, the Democratic Coalition further expounded on the importance of Pennsylvanians casting their vote for Fetterman. "We are making ads like this for crucial Senate races across the Country," the PAC tweeted. "Help us get them in front of swing voters."

Shortly after sharing the clip, the PAC also retweeted a post from Fetterman as he further criticized Oz. "Yesterday, The Washington Post documented Dr. Oz’s career of lying on TV and peddling dubious medical products + advice," Fetterman tweeted. "He lies about everything -- not just about weight loss pills, but also about my record on crime."

The latest ad comes amid ongoing attacks from both sides of the political aisle. Over the last several weeks, Oz has also taken several verbal jabs at Fetterman even criticizing his clothing. However, Fetterman has been more focused on highlighting the contradictions and flaws in his campaign platform.
