Thursday night, Jon Stewart recapped Donald Trump's latest PR embarrassment. After calling Mexican immigrants "rapists" last week and suffering the entirely predictable and righteous backlash, Trump went on a media tour to explain his strange, racist diatribe. Instead of apologizing and trying to move on, he doubled down; awkwardly telling CNN's Don Lemon that "somebody's doing the raping" whatever that means.
The Daily Show host was having none of it, replaying Trumps words a total of five times so we can all hear what he said: Mexicans were "bringing their rapists" and "criminals" into the United States. A notion that not only turns out to be deeply offensive, but as Jon Stewart points out, entirely untrue.
But what really offended Stewart was less so Trump's racist buffoonery — which he compared to a chimp's inability to not throw feces — but the number of right-wing hacks who stepped in to defend Trump from the "PC Police" after he was exposed.
