WaPo identifies suspect involved in Pentagon document leak

Information has been released about the 21-year-old individual said to be responsible for leaking documentation regarding the war in Ukraine and U.S. spying operations.
The investigative findings were detailed in a new report published by The Washington Post.
"The man behind a massive leak of U.S. government secrets that has exposed spying on allies, revealed the grim prospects for Ukraine’s war with Russia, and ignited diplomatic fires for the White House is a young, charismatic gun enthusiast who shared highly classified documents with a group of far-flung acquaintances searching for companionship amid the isolation of the pandemic," the news outlet reports.
Speaking to The Post, one member of the group shared details about the post noting that only a few people paid attention to it but he did. One of the members, only referred to as "OG," claimed to have inside information about the government. His real name is Jack Teixeira, per media reports.
According to The Hill, one of the members noted that OG "worked for hours to write up the classified documents to share with those in the Discord group and 'wanted to keep us in the loop.'”
“He’s a smart person. He knew what he was doing when he posted these documents, of course. These weren’t accidental leaks of any kind,” the member said.
When the documents began circulating on various social media platforms, U.S. intelligence information was made public.
Per the news outlet: "The leaks showed that the Pentagon has raised doubts about the potential for success from Ukraine’s expected counteroffensive this spring, that the U.S. is spying on allies such as Israel and that Egypt planned to supply Russia with rockets in the war against Ukraine, among other findings."
The situation is currently being investigated by the U.S. Pentagon.
