Ted Cruz claims Biden could be impeached — over a document he hasn't even read
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) recently suggested that President Joe Biden could be facing impeachment in the near future for what he believes are impeachable actions.
During an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday, May 3, the Republican lawmaker raised awareness about an allegedly incriminating document. However, there's just one catch: Cruz hasn't actually viewed the document himself.
The lawmaker's remarks were in response to reports about a letter written earlier in the day by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Rep. James Comer (R-KY).
The two Republican lawmakers "sent a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray requesting information about an 'alleged criminal scheme' involving Biden and a 'foreign national,'” Mediaite reports.
In the letter, the lawmakers expressed concern about the existence of an FD-1023 form which "the bureau uses to record meetings or information collected from confidential sources," according to the news outlet.
“We have received legally protected and highly credible unclassified whistleblower disclosures,” they wrote. “Based on those disclosures, it has come to our attention that the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) possess an unclassified FD-1023 form that describes an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decision.”
During his appearance on Fox News with Sean Hannity, the Texas lawmaker zeroed in on the news anchor's idea about the possibility of Biden facing impeachment for the situation.

“It doesn’t have to be a high crime or misdemeanor because the Constitution specifies that impeachment lies for treason, bribery, other high crimes or misdemeanors,” Cruz said. “Bribery is explicitly noted in the Constitution. And I gotta say, the evidence, not only against Hunter Biden, but the evidence against Joe Biden being complicit and profiting from this corruption is growing and growing and growing.”
