Right-wing podcaster and conspiracy theorist Steve Bannon – one of former President Donald Trump's now-disgraced top White House advisers and a loyal ally – proclaimed in a speech at a Turning Point USA conference on Tuesday that President Joe Biden should be indicted for treason over his son Hunter's laptop, which Republicans have used as a distraction from Trump's legal entanglements.

"Impeaching Joe Biden's too good for him. Then we gotta bring the criminal charges and send him to prison for selling out this country," Biden said as the crowd of young conservatives chanted, "lock them up! Lock them up!"

Bannon received a four-month jail sentence in October after he was dually convicted for refusing to comply with subpoenas issued by the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, of which he was a key player. A judge in November allowed Bannon to remain free pending appeals.

"Is there any doubt, is there any doubt? You've gone through the laptop from Hell. Remember it was a year later – they spent all that time with Twitter and Facebook and all of 'em, prepping and saying, 'oh this is Russian disinformation.' They did – they had all of our phones tapped. They had mine, they had Rudy's [Giuliani], had everybody's that was working on it. They knew what they were doing. This is all out in the open now.

Bannon then accused Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray, ex-Attorney General Bill Barr, the Department of Homeland Security, the Central Intelligence Agency, "and the people that work for them" of orchestrating an "open coup," presumably against Trump.

"And we – all politics is performative – until we get the investigations and get to the bottom of every name. The fifty-one intelligence officers and everybody else that sold this country out, all these traitors must go to prison," Bannon shouted amid thunderous applause. "All traitors must go to prison. All traitors must go to prison."
