Republican Senate candidate Mehmet Oz appears to have given Democratic opponent John Fetterman an opportunity to troll him mercilessly after his attempted insult backfired.

According to HuffPost, Oz attempted to criticize Fetterman, Pennsylvania’s current lieutenant governor, for the signature hoodie he often wears; attire Oz has deemed unacceptable.

During an appearance on the "Ruthless" podcast, Oz explained his concerns.

“When he dresses like that, it’s not an accident,” Oz said last week on the podcast. “He’s kicking authority in the balls. He’s saying, ‘I’m the man. I’ll show those guys who’s boss.’”

Oz's remarks were shared via Twitter by PatriotTakes, an organization that follows right-wing news. It didn't take long for Twitter users to highlight the problem with Oz's statement.

Per the news outlet, Oz is "accusing Fetterman of 'kicking authority in the balls,' but critics insist that might be 'exactly what voters want' in Pennsylvania. 'Does he not understand how cool that makes his opponent sound?!' asked Rogers Media director Jordan Heath-Rawlings.

Another Twitter user noted, "Oz again shows that he is not from Pennsylvania. I mean, if you advertised an event where Philadelphians were given the opportunity to 'Come kick authority in the balls,' there would be a line 6 miles long before the first kick was landed."

To sum up Oz's inadvertent blunder, another user tweeted, "At this point @JohnFetterman might at well take a break and let Oz run his campaign for a while. 'Kicking authority in the balls' may well be the greatest campaign slogan ever."
