Fox News host suggests Native Americans have a history of 'alcoholism' and 'government dependency'

Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy on Wednesday offered her assessment on the cause of Native Americans' struggles. According to the Fox host, their challenges have "everything to do with government dependency" and "alcoholism."
Offering her take on Vice President Kamala Harris' (D) remarks about America's "shameful past" on Indigenous Peoples Day, Campos-Duffy pushed back to defend Christopher Columbus. Although the widely known explorer has been historically credited for discovering America, those claims have been rebuffed more vocally in recent years. But, according to Campos-Duffy, Columbus is the so-called victim; not the Indians who had their land stolen by colonizers.
"Christopher Columbus, by the way, is the first victim of cancel culture," Campos-Duffy claimed as she added that Native Americans "were just as brutal" as the Italian explorer and other European colonizers.
"We know they actually had slaves, including African-American slaves, they conquered tribes after Columbus," the right-leaning Fox News host claimed. "If we are going to apply modern-day standards, we have to apply it on both sides."
After Fox News' Jesse Watters nodded in agreement while claiming tribal nations were responsible for "an incredible amount of atrocities," Campos-Duffy
"They burned villages, raped women, seized children, took the people they defeated, took their land, scalped people," the ex-Republican congressman said. "It was a horrible time all across the globe. But they want to apply the 'woke' standard that they have today on Christopher Columbus, but nobody else in the world!"
She also claimed the "lies" are not only about the past but also the president as she claimed to know the real reason why Native Americans face so many economic struggles and hardships.
"And the lie isn't just about our past," the Fox & Friends Weekend host stated. "The real lie is with conditions for Native Americans right now. The conditions from Native Americans have everything to do with government dependency, cycles of poverty and alcoholism, and family breakdowns, and these are things that the Democrats don't want to talk about."
