Florida parents are heading to court to push back against DeSantis' ban on mask mandates ahead of the upcoming school year

Outraged parents in the state of Florida are pushing back against Gov. Ron DeSantis' (R) war on mask mandates. According to Fox 13, parents are challenging the Republican governor's executive order banning school districts from incorporating their own mask mandates.
While DeSantis has made it clear that he believes the decision on masks should be one that parents make on behalf of their kids, the issue is that all parents do not agree on the issue. Now, the parents taking legal action insist school districts should have the power to make the decision.
Per the publication:
"In the lawsuit, the parents allege that the executive order violates part of the state constitution that 'ensures uniform, efficient, safe, secure and high-quality system of public schools,' going on to say that by not mandating masks, it's putting students' lives in jeopardy."
In addition to parents' latest lawsuit, DeSantis has also been hit with another suit filed by a group concerned parents of special needs children. According to the publication, those parents have made it clear "that as long as masks are not mandated in the classroom, they don't feel comfortable sending their child back, which they believe could be drastically hurting their child's education."
The latest lawsuit filed details parents' concerns about the governor's controversial executive order. School superintendents and medical experts have pushed back to express their disapproval of the governor's seemingly politicized decision in response to the order. Florida is among the top states facing heightened surges in COVID cases and hospitalization rates.
