Tucker Carlson recently shared a blistering opinion of Fox News contributor Ben Domenech, describing him as a “buffoon” and a member of what he calls “the moron community” for his take on the speakership debacle currently underway in the House chamber.

Carlson's remarks came on Thursday, January 5, just hours after lawmakers in the House of Representatives failed to elect a speaker after 11 consecutive ballot entries over the last three days. Around 20 Republican lawmakers continue to block House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's (R-Calif.) bid for speaker of the House.

According to Carlson, the situation has been blown out of proportion as a result of overzealous members of the media.

“This is what democracy looks like when you get up close,” Carlson told viewers on Thursday night. “I want one thing, you want another thing. We schedule a vote to see who gets it, or in this case 11 votes, but whatever. But how is that disaster? Well, it’s not a disaster. It’s how the system is supposed to work. But don’t tell the moron community that.”

The Fox News host went on to play a collection of clips featuring notable members of the media including Domenech, Joy Reid, Nicolle Wallace and others. Earlier in the day, Domenech likened Republican infighting to a “terrorist standoff.”

“The way that they’ve gone about trying to achieve these demands has resulted in essentially this terrorist standoff between them and the overwhelming majority of people in their conference,” Domenech said of the opposition. “They’re so excitable."

Carlson took aim at Domenech with a critical assessment of his remarks.

“Then another one of the buffoons in the clip you just saw went further and called the whole thing 'terrorism,' which is the remorseless use of violence against a civilian population to effect a political goal,” Carlson said.

Despite Carlson's arguments, multiple other Fox News hosts have also noted the drawbacks associated with House Republicans' failure to unite.
