Mike Lindell's tantrum torn apart: Next he'll blame Bigfoot

President Donald Trump’s ally and endorsed candidate for Minnesota governor, MyPillow founder Mike Lindell, was mocked by a conservative commentator on Wednesday for falsely claiming the Republican gubernatorial primary was stolen from him.

“With 100 percent of precincts reporting in the Minnesota Republican gubernatorial primary, state House Speaker Lisa Demuth has 179,545 votes, and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has 134,184 votes,” wrote National Review's Jim Geraghty wrote on Wednesday. “That is a gap of 45,361 votes. You are not going to find 45,361 votes unattended in a county courier truck, or any other such shenanigans.”

After adding “dude . . . you lost by more than 45,000 votes,” Geraghty pointed out that “it is not exactly shocking news to declare that Mike Lindell is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs and sees election-rigging conspiracies everywhere he goes. But it is worth keeping in mind that with perfectly good Republican candidates who are more popular among Minnesota Republicans and Minnesotans as a whole available, President Trump chose to endorse Lindell.”

He then quipped, “For a guy who talks about winning so much, Trump doesn’t really care that much about winning.”

Geraghty then acknowledged that voter fraud does happen, providing links to sites asserting that this is the case and saying that it is a problem deserving of serious consideration, even if there is no evidence of fraud occurring to such an extent that it influenced the result of an election. Yet he was dismissive of Lindell’s allegations as flat-out ridiculous.

“Lindell, however, is about one step away from claiming the Illuminati, aliens, Elvis, and Bigfoot hacked the election,” Geraghty concluded. “He is, unwittingly, the greatest ally the election system status quo could ever want.”

Lindell made a number of missteps during the governor’s race that could have contributed to his defeat despite the boost he may have received from Trump’s endorsement. Shortly before the election, it came out that he was registered to vote in Texas rather than Minnesota. On Monday he snapped at a reporter who fact-checked him about the immigration record of the incumbent, Gov. Tim Walz, saying “Walz is a very bad, evil man. He has never cooperated with the Trump administration. I know that for a fact.”

He also continued to be involved in litigation for his debunked election denial claims.

“After Mike Lindell was held in civil contempt and hit with a $500-per-day fine for 103 days for refusing to pay sanctions he's owed Smartmatic for years, a federal judge has given the MyPillow CEO exactly one month to pay an ‘extra penalty’ for his defiance,” Law and Crime’s Matt Naham reported in July.
