MS NOW “The Weekend” Host Jonathan Capehart could not disguise his surprise at some very bad numbers for President Donald Trump coming from a very friendly place.

“I just want to put up this Fox New poll about ‘who would do a better job on the economy,’” said Capehart.

“—who's that from again?” interrupted “Weekend” co-host Eugene Daniels.

“Fox News poll,” said Capehart. “Fox. News. Poll. Credible poll — and you know why we're showing this. And look at this number: 52 percent [of respondents] said Democrats would do a better job on the economy. Forty-eight percent said Republicans.”

“Two things jump out at me because of this poll — aside from it being Fox,” continued Capehart. “The last time Fox News recorded a Democratic edge on the economy; it was May of 2010. May of 2010! Two: This is significant because Donald Trump ran on the economy. It was his No. 1 — NUMBER ONE — issue, along with immigration that helped propel him into this second term in the White House.”

Capehart went on to say Republicans are underwater on economic issues but their job approval rating on the economy is currently 40 percent with Fox News respondents.

“What does that say about November?” said Capehart, looking startled.

“Americans are suffering,” said Maria Teresa Kumar, president and CEO of Vote Latino. “We came out with a poll with murmuration — basically we surveyed 6500 individuals, and 89 percent of them have had to change their lifestyle because of gas, because of prices.”

“Eighty-nine percent,” Kumar repeated. “We have never seen that before. And when we asked, ‘why are you making these changes?’ They said ‘the president,’ number one, and ‘government policy’ number two. When asked who can fix it, they said ‘government.’

“The American people have never pointed to government as fixing their problems, right?” Kumar challenged. “And that, again, was mind blowing.”
