'All hat, no cattle': Ted Cruz mentions Cancun again and Twitter users aren't taking it lightly

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) recently mentioned his infamous trip to Cancun again and Twitter users did not let that reference slide.
The latest Twitter firestorm began on Friday, May 19 when the Texas senator posted a photo of himself pointing to an LED sign that read, "Cancun." With the photo, Cruz tweeted, "I’m in Midland, TX today, and guess what I found! #Cancun"
Although he may have found the coincidence comical, many social media users didn't agree due to the reason why the senator has been associated with Cancun. Back in February 2021, Cruz made headlines for traveling to vacation in Cancun while his state was being hammered by a brutal winter storm.

Twitter users quickly reminded him of that. MSNBC News' Medhi Hasan tweeted about the aftermath of the storm and the number of Texans who were impacted by it.
"More than 200 Texans died in that winter storm, officially, but the real death toll was much higher," Hasan tweeted, "For Cruz, who abandoned suffering Texans for the Ritz in Cancun, it’s all one big joke."
The conservative group Republicans Against Trump also tweeted remarks similar to Hasan's.
"Yea, it's so funny that in the middle of a terrible storm in your state, when people died and others left without heat and electricity, you thought it was the right time to go for a family vacation on the beach in Cancun," the group tweeted. "Hilarious"
Texas State Rep. Colin Allred tweeted, "Abandoning our state during a deadly winter storm is not a joke, but it's exactly who Ted Cruz is. All hat, no cattle."
Drywall Media also tweeted, "Oh look guys. Yesterday there was one of the biggest uncoverings of treason in our country’s history (FBI whistleblowers), and Ted is posting photos of his lunch spot. When are you going to do anything for your voters Ted? Sackless do-nothing politician."
