Watch: NRA-backed Josh Hawley wants to know 'who is behind' gender-affirming care centers

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) questioned who financially supports gender affirming care centers during a recent Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham, Media Matters for America reports.
The right-wing Missouri senator was suggesting gender affirming care treatments contributed to the motive of the shooter who carried out the mass shooting at a Christian school in Nashville, leaving six dead. The assailant was transgender.
"Listen, we have got the facts of these clinics, who's funding them, and who's making the money on it?" Hawley asked. "Why are they pushing these treatments on parents and kids without fully exploring and telling them what the long-term consequences are, which include sterilization for life?"

He continued, "We need to get to the bottom of who is behind this push to, in many cases, mutilate these children without telling them what's actually going on. And all of this goes back to the fact, Laura, we've got to get to the facts here in this shooting, we got to prevent this from happening again. We’ve got to tell the truth about what happened in Nashville."
While Hawley is concerned about who is funding gender affirming care center, St. Louis Public Radio reports, the National Rifle Association (NRA) "has contributed millions of dollars to Missouri's senators," citing Hawley as the the "12th largest NRA benefactor in Congress, approaching $1.4 million in contributions in just four years."
