The Army military police brigade stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina is gearing up for possible deployment to Minneapolis, MS NOW reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the Pentagon issued a "prepare-to-deploy" order "at least a few hundred soldiers."

The troops "are being prepared for the possible mobilization to Minneapolis, two of the people said," per MS NOW. "All of the sources spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the deployments."

Trump has teased the idea of invoking the Insurrection Act amid community protests across the country following the shooting death of a Minneapolis mom by federal agents.

A Pentagon official said that they have nothing to announce.

Last week, two battalions with the Army's 11th Airborne Division were called to deploy. Each battalion has at least 500 soldiers. The ones sent from Alaska "[specialize] in winter weather conditions," according to MS NOW.

Last summer, Trump deployed 700 active-duty Marines to Los Angeles to stand guard around federal buildings. U.S. soldiers cannot arrest Americans unless Trump invokes the Insurrection Act.

The report added that the soldiers "cannot engage in civilian law enforcement" at all.

Trump has already deployed military lawyers after several federal prosecutors resigned suddenly in Minnesota.
