Response leaves kids stunned after calling out 'cultist' MAGA mom to her face

On Friday, two hosts of a popular podcast went on MS NOW to call out their mother – an avid supporter of President Donald Trump – for being a MAGA “cultist” directly to her face. While she maintained her support for the president, she also left her children visibly shocked when she admitted that she might not have voted for Trump again if the opportunity arose.

All three – Chad Kultgen, Hailey Pop, and their mother Mary Lou – discuss politics on the podcast the Necessary Conversation, and during the MS NOW segment, Hailey was blunt about her mom’s stance, saying, “I believe that MAGA is a cult. She's wearing a Donald Trump hat – no other president in our history has had merch. This idea that he's never wrong; I'm going to wait and see what happens. This is cult mentality in my opinion.” She added, “It's a slow go because you have to have patience to try to pull someone out of a cult.”

Her brother Chad offered a similar assessment. “It's this weird kind of psychological programming,” he asserted. “They bought the cologne and the sneakers [thinking they] have some kind of inherent financial value that will be imparted onto us as an inheritance. Obviously that's not true.” These “investments,” suggests Chad, are his mother’s way of convincing herself that “I’m not totally brainwashed in this cult. I'm doing this for good financial reasons. It's just not true.”

For her part, Mary Lou explained, “I voted for him. I want to continue to make our country stronger and greater. I do listen to my children. They are making me open my eyes a bit. But like I said, he is my president still.” She noted that she went nearly a year without speaking to her kids because she was “upset” after her son created a meme she “didn’t like” about Trump,” but that “it’s not worth it. Family’s number one.”

She left her kids visibly stunned, however, with her response to whether she would vote for him again if she had the chance. “I don't think he'll try, but… I would have to see who he was running against,” she said, prompting wide-eyed shock from her offspring. “I'll be honest there. I mean, politics changes day by day. President Trump just said Iran is getting ready to fold. Day by day, our headlines change. That's what's so neat about politics to me.”
