House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is being relentlessly mocked for his keen ability to dodge questions. The comical reactions came on Tuesday, May 9 when the top-ranking Republican lawmaker was hit with a flurry of questions from reporters.

In the wake of former President Donald Trump's unfavorable ruling for the E. Jean Carroll defamation case and Rep. George Santos' (R-N.Y.) controversial entanglements, McCarthy was asked quite a few questions about the latest unpleasantries.

Instead of answering reporters' questions, McCarthy made it a point to avoid answering each question.

"Are you going to continue to stand by George Santos now that he's been indicted on federal charges?" one reporter asked the California lawmaker adding, "And do you stand by Trump after a jury found him liable for sexual abuse?"

"I'm not going to avoid your question," McCarthy told the reporter, before doing just that.

He went on to talk about both circumstances while making it a point to distance himself from the situations.

"But as you know, I've been at the White House. I haven't seen the indictment. But as you know, with George Santos, I did not put him on any committees," he said. "In America, we'll just follow the same pattern we always have, right?" McCarthy asked, adding, "If a person is indicted, they're not on committees, they have the right to vote. But they have to go to trial."

He went on to further discuss Santos conceding that the lawmaker may have to step down if found guilty. Then reporters pivoted back to the situation regarding Trump.

One reporter asked, "And Trump being found liable?"

Struggling to answer the question, McCarthy said, "I — I don't know. I've been in meetings."

Another clip also captured McCarthy insisting that his focus on meetings prohibited him from assessing the situation. In that clip, another reporter asked, "Mr. Speaker. A jury just found Donald Trump liable of sexual abuse, do you still support him?"

McCarthy responded saying, "You know what? I've been in this meeting. But let me find out what this is."

As the clips circulate on social media, McCarthy is being relentlessly mocked for his failure to actually answer questions.

"If dodging reporters' tough questions was a sport, Rep. Kevin McCarthy would be the G.O.A.T," Business Insider's Cheryl Teh wrote.

"I can't really answer that question right here, let me see what I think after I talk to MTG," one Twitter user sarcastically tweeted.

Another user tweeted, "McCarthy knows that Santos is one of MTG’s puppies, so he will try to straddle the line and hang on as long as he can or MTG might just try replace him, since he made it so easy."
