Elon Musk did not vote in the midterms: report

Twitter owner Elon Musk – who on Tuesday was dethroned as the world's richest person – did not cast a ballot in the November 8th midterm elections, according to an exclusive report in The Daily Beast published on Wednesday.
Musk has gained notoriety by reinstating accounts belonging to neo-Nazis and conspiracy theorists such as Kanye West and former President Donald Trump while simultaneously cracking down on posts that bother him personally – despite repeatedly claiming that he values free speech. On Wednesday morning, for example, Musk suspended Jack Sweeney, who tracked Musk's private aircraft and went by the username @elonjet.
Yet it is Musk's recent embrace of right-wing figures like Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, whom Musk endorsed for president in 2024 – as well as failed Republican House of Representatives candidate Maya Flores of Texas, whom Musk supported in the primaries – that makes his absence from the midterms rather curious.

"State and local records show that Musk did not vote for her—or anyone," wealth and power correspondent Noah Kirsch wrote, noting however that Musk ''did vote during Flores' race in June, records show, and also previously cast an absentee ballot in the 2020 elections.''
Kirsch learned from speaking to Cameron County's election administrator that “based on our records, we do not have any indication that Mr. Musk participated in the November 2022 Election in Cameron County." The individual noted that ''Musk could not have voted in another county, since that would have triggered the cancellation of his initial registration."
Furthermore, Kirsch continued, "an official in the Texas Secretary of State’s Office confirmed that Musk is only registered to vote in Cameron County, noting that any changes would show up in state databases. The office’s records also showed that Musk did not vote in the midterms."
Musk ignored Kirch's request for comment.
