Dem governor warns Manchin against pursuing 'foolish' endeavors

During a Sunday interview with ABC's This Week, Maryland Democratic Governor Wes Moore had a message for U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) following his announcement to forgo reelection, Politico reports.
Manchin, known to be one of the most moderate Democrats in the senate, said that instead of pursuing another term, he plans to travel the country and "see if there is an interest in creating a movement to mobilize the middle."
Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne Jr. noted in a Sunday op-ed, "Manchin's mobilize-the-middle trip is seen as a potential bid to run as a third-party candidate on No Labels' bipartisan 'unity ticket.'"

During his conversation with This Week host Jonathan Karl, Moore said the senator "has had a career of distinguished service," and "I would urge him not to mar his legacy by getting involved in something so foolish."
The governor added, "If you look at what No Labels is, No Labels literally has no plan, has no path, has no policy platform. They don't even have a candidate. It's one thing to say we're going to rail against the system, and it's another thing to actually work to make systems better. That's what I think President Biden has continued to show."
The Democratic leader emphasized that Biden has managed to reap "real, productive results for the people of this country."
