'You can’t pinpoint me': TN mayor fumes as reporter tries to nail down timeline on Helene factory deaths

The destruction from Hurricane Helene was felt not only in coastal states like Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas, but also, in Erwin, Tennessee — where several factory workers were killed by floodwaters.
CNN interviewed Erwin Mayor Glenn White about the tragedy, and the conversation grew testy when the reporter tried to nail him down about the timeline.
White started to become frustrated when asked about when events unfolded, saying, "You're catching me on times now. Come on, help me here."

White disagreed when told that an 8 o'clock notification was an "alert" about the danger, insisting, "It wasn't an alert…. (They said), 'The river's getting high.' Well, we've had that before. So, it wasn't an alarming situation for me at that time."
The Erwin mayor grew increasingly testy, eventually telling the reporter, "What I'm trying to say is that you can't pinpoint me because it was a chaotic situation. And it hit so fast that I'm not here to blame anyone."
White added, "We did the best that we could, and we're still in that recovery phase."
White went on to say, "So, you pressed me on a timeline. I don't have an official timeline."
