CNN anchor Anderson Cooper did not mince words when he shared his opinion of Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) after the Republican representative announced his re-election campaign for 2024.

During a Monday segment of CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," the news anchor weighed in with his critical reaction to Santos' decision to run despite his ongoing scandals.

"Sure, he doesn’t have the support of his party on Capitol Hill, or the support of the party leadership back in his district, who’ve called for his resignation, or the support of most of his constituents, who in recent polling say they want him to resign,” Cooper said.

Cooper then touched on the number of scandals Santos is facing, and offered an explanation for the lawmaker's lack of regard for those woes.

Cooper continued, "And yes, he faces multiple federal and local investigations into his finances after he admitted to lying about everything from his college degree to where he worked and even his heritage. But when you have no shame, none of that matters. Today, he announced he’s going to run for reelection.”

Also weighing in on Santos' circumstances, CNN senior data analyst Harry Enten shared details about poll projections relating to the Republican lawmaker.

“The good news is: I went back through history and found some politicians with comparable favorable ratings ― right around seven or eight percent,” Enten said. “The bad news is: those politicians were either at the time convicted criminals or later became convicted criminals.”

According to Enten, Santos' current poll standing is similar to that of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D), who was impeached, jailed, and sentenced to eight years behind bars after being convicted of public corruption.
