'Where is Ron DeSantis?' Trump voters slam Gov. over ignoring FL flood for campaign trip

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is expected to soon announce a 2024 bid against former President Donald Trump, visited Ohio Thursday while Fort Lauderdale faces severe and historic flooding.
As a result, the Republican leader is facing an abundance of backlash.
The City of Fort Lauderdale's Twitter account wrote Thursday night, "FLOOD EMERGENCY UPDATE: April 13, 2023, 7:45 p.m
An additional round of rain has caused more flooding throughout the City. Roads that were passable earlier today are flooded again. We strongly urge everyone to stay off the roads. More details at http://fortlauderdale.gov/stormupdates"

Meanwhile, @Meida'sTouch shared a clip of the governor's speech, writing, "Holy s**t. Ron DeSantis just gave a low-energy speech in Akron, Ohio where he ranted against Republicans who are 'like potted plants' who 'hope to not have to make decisions' until they're forced to.' He said this as Fort Lauderdale, FL is underwater from historic flooding."
According to Rolling Stone, "Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis, who declared a state of emergency in the city on Wednesday, told reporters that he is confused as to why the head of the state hasn't tried to contact him about the growing disaster."
"Governor DeSantis has not yet called," Trantalis said during a news conference Thursday. "I'm not sure what’s going on, but he’s very interested in what’s going on here and we’re happy to work with his office."
Other Republicans — specifically Trump supporters — also lambasted the governor on social media for his clear lack of concern for the city.

Republican Accountability: "Fort Lauderdale, FL had record-breaking flooding last night. Fort Lauderdale Mayor: 'Governor DeSantis has not yet called.' Where is Ron DeSantis? He's in Ohio."
Alex Bruesewitz: "Wow DeSantis hasn't even called about the tragic flooding in Fort Lauderdale. He's a disgrace! Instead he's in Ohio for his globalist funded shadow presidential campaign. FL deserves a full time governor. If desantis wants to run for president he should follow the law & RESIGN!"
@ChatbyCC: "DeSantis isn't in Tallahassee or Fort Lauderdale. He's selling his book and collecting campaign donations in OHIO!"
@shaneyyricch: "The people of Fort Lauderdale are not happy that DeSantis is in Ohio while their city is flooding!!"
Mickey Kuhns: "Fort Lauderdale, Florida had record breaking flooding overnight. But don't worry folks — I'm sure Ron DeSantis will take care of the flooding AFTER he is done campaigning in Ohio."

Laura Loomer: "Fort Lauderdale, Florida was slammed with mass flooding last night. Floridians lost their cars, and many FL homes were flooded and destroyed by water damage. Instead of doing his job, today @GovRonDeSantis is flying to Ohio to campaign for President."
Even Donald Trump Jr. lashed out at the governor during an episode of his "Triggered" podcast, saying:
Also need to talk about DeSantis being absent during natural disasters. I came into Miami last night cuz I couldn't get into Fort Lauderdale because there is historic flooding in the streets. My car is literally still at Fort Lauderdale Airport because I couldn't get in. I couldn't get there to be able to get my vehicle out because I'm hoping it's not underwater but I wouldn't know because one of the major airports of America is shut down. And where's Ron DeSantis?
