Trump-endorsed candidate now vowing to round up 'illegal' immigrants

Georgia Republican congressional candidate Vernon Jones is vowing to round up all illegal immigrants as he continues to push the far-right narrative set in motion by former President Donald Trump.
On Monday, May 10, Jones took to Twitter with his promise as he also suggested Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Mo.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should also be included. Photographed with two armed men who appear to be border patrol agents, Jones wrote "Every illegal must go. EVERY. I’ll round em up myself. And send [Ilhan Omar] and {Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] with them - at no extra charge. Just reimburse me for gas, [JoeBiden]."

Jones, who was previously elected to the Georgia House of Representatives as a Democratic lawmaker, is now running for office as a Republican candidate backed by Trump. Although Jones initially suggested that he'd challenge Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), he soon shifted gears to run for Congress in Georgia's 10th District. Shortly after that announcement, Trump announced his support for the new Republican.
The aspiring Republican candidate's post has garnered mixed reviews; some Twitter users support his proposed effort while others raised a multitude of questions. Namely, many users questioned where the photo was actually taken.
Jones' latest post comes just days after he traveled to Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort for the viewing of a conspiracy-filled documentary titled, "2000 Mules."
At the time, Jones took to Twitter with a photo praising another Trump ally: Michael Flynn, who served as the former national security adviser under the Trump administration.
Few Americans greater than General Flynn himself! \n\nIt\u2019s an honor to have his support and an even greater honor to join him at Mar-a-Lago today for the premiere of #2000Mules.pic.twitter.com/7QNXFuH2M1— Vernon Jones For Congress (@Vernon Jones For Congress) 1651709954
