'Deplorable': Community Zoom meeting shut down because of a racist man’s ‘lewd’ acts

On February 28, the Smithville Community Coalition — a local group in Cornelius, North Carolina’s predominantly African-American Smithville area — held a Zoom meeting that was attended by about 30 people, including some seniors. But the event, according to the Charlotte Observer, was shut down because of a racist man’s “lewd” and disruptive acts.
The Observer’s Joe Marusak reports that the “naked man defecated and repeated the N-word three times before a Coalition member shut the meeting down.
The Coalition member was Justin Miller, who organized the meeting.
Willie Jones, a Smithville Community Coalition board member, told the Observer, “It was a deplorable incident.”
According to Marusak, “Jones and others couldn’t offer much of a description of the man, only that he is White and sounded like he’s in his late 20s or his 30s.”
Marusak notes that the Smithville Community Coalition, which was founded in 1968, is working on an ambitious, $12-million plan to provide housing affordable to teachers, first responders and other workers, as well as seniors, Jones said.”
