Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is calling for the resignation of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas amid allegations the Democratic lawmaker described as "a pattern of ethical breaches," according to The Hill.

On Tuesday, March 29, Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to voice her concerns about the multiple conflicts of interest involving Thomas as she shed light on the income he'd reportedly received from multiple right-wing organizations. She also insisted that Thomas should himself from his wife, Ginni Thomas' debacle following the 2020 presidential election.

“Clarence Thomas should resign,” she wrote. “If not, his failure to disclose income from right-wing organizations, recuse himself from matters involving his wife, and his vote to block the Jan 6th commission from key information must be investigated and could serve as grounds for impeachment.”

Ocasio-Cortez's remarks come as Democratic lawmakers and legal experts weigh in on the couple's ties to right-wing organizations. Last week, the justice's wife was at the center of controversy after reports surfaced detailing her involvement in a plot to overturn the presidential election. Dozens of text messages also came to light over the last few days showing Ginni Thomas' embrace of conspiracy theories.

Per The Washington Post:

"She sent messages that had been making the rounds on pro-Trump sites, where anger over the election echoed her own raw feelings, including this passage: 'Biden crime family & ballot fraud co-conspirators (elected officials, bureaucrats, social media censorship mongers, fake stream media reporters, etc) are being arrested & detained for ballot fraud right now & over coming days, & will be living in barges off GITMO to face military tribunals for sedition.'”

There are also text message records of her remarks to former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. “Do not concede,” she texted Meadows the next day. “It takes time for the army who is gathering for his back.”

With all that has transpired, there are concerns about at least 10 court rulings in relation to the 2020 presidential election that Thomas voted on. With the latest development, more calls are being made for Thomas to recuse himself on cases in reference to the Jan. 6 insurrection.
