Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) week of blunders and groveling have come back to haunt him. On Friday, January 7, the Republican lawmaker became the focal point of a new damning supercut that highlights his recent ordeal, according to HuffPost.

Earlier this week, the Texas senator faced conservative backlash after he described the Jan. 6 insurrection as a "terrorist attack." In an effort to smooth things over with his base, he appeared on Fox News with Tucker Carlson which subsequently made things worse. Cruz resorted to apologizing and groveling for Carlson's forgiveness.

The supercut highlighted Cruz's remarks over the last year noting that this is not the first time he has shared the same assessment. On multiple occasions, Cruz has described the Capitol riots as an act of terrorism. The supercut also offered a timeline of his remarks as it replayed how this particular week turned out.

In addition to the supercut, Cruz has also been mocked by the media. CNN's Anderson Cooper slammed Cruz for cowering to Fox News' Tucker Carlson during the recent interview. With a clip of his own segment on Cruz's interview, Cooper highlighted one of his own quotes summarizing what transpired between Carlson and the Texas lawmaker.

"'A former presidential candidate... groveling at the feet of Tucker Carlson... quite a comedown after groveling at the feet of the actual President,'" Cooper tweeted as he explained that the quote was in reference to Cruz "kowtowing to a Fox News host, in the process diluting his own influence."

MSNBC hosts Joy Reid, Ari Melber, and Chris Hayes also heckled the humiliated lawmaker. Reid compared Cruz to the character Reek from "Game of Thrones" while Melber noted how "sad" the interview was.

Hayes also described the interview as "a well-established and well-documented thing for self-humiliation.”
