Reporter calls out Mike Lindell's 'bait-and-switch' on supposed 'proof' of election rigging

This week in South Dakota, far-right conspiracy theorist and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has been presenting his "Cyber Symposium" event in the hope of convincing Americans that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump. Lindell, who is being sued for defamation by Dominion Voting Systems, has made the bogus claim that the technology was manipulated and rigged to flip millions of votes from Trump to now-President Joe Biden — and experts on the United States' voting technology have countered that what he is alleging would be technologically impossible.
Although Lindell's event isn't open to the general public, it is being livestreamed online. And Daily Beast reporter Justin Baragona offered some analysis in a Twitter thread, noting how "awkward" the discussion became:
Attendee of Mike Lindell's symposium asks when they can see the packet captures Lindell claims he has. Awkwardness ensues.\n\nAttendee: "Mike Lindell says that it was all given to him. So why doesn\u2019t he give it to us?"\n\nLindell "cyber expert": "That would be something to ask Mike."pic.twitter.com/lJojFViHiO— Justin Baragona (@Justin Baragona) 1628790910
The Beast reporter went on to explain why the people Lindell is holding up as "experts" are showing no real expertise in voting systems technology:
Another thing that stood out here is the bait-and-switch from Lindell's "expert," saying the real question should be why the federal government isn't providing these packet captures because the DHS has access to all of this via "Albert sensors."pic.twitter.com/rCmfjoaYAm— Justin Baragona (@Justin Baragona) 1628791296
Speaking to actual cybersecurity pros recently, one thing that's been pointed out is Lindell's "experts" are peppering their presentations with buzzwords and tech-savvy terminology to create an aura of expertise.\n\nBut, in reality, they don't know what they're talking about.— Justin Baragona (@Justin Baragona) 1628791688
