Ex-Trump campaign official reveals former president's supporters are going 'back to the Capitol' in protest

A former Trump campaign official has announced plans to return to the U.S. Capitol to hold a protest in honor of the so-called "political prisoners" facing charges in connection with the Jan. 6 insurrection.
Matt Braynard, the former data and strategy director for Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and current executive director of the political organization Look Ahead America, recently appeared on former White House strategist Steve Bannon's podcast. During his appearance, Baynard revealed details about the planned protest reportedly scheduled for next month.
"We're going back to the Capitol, right where it started. And it's going to be huge," Braynard told Bannon last week as he officially announced the planned protest at the Capitol.

The protest, which has been dubbed "Justice for J6," is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 18.
"As we continue to raise the profiles of these individuals" who have been arrested, it "makes it harder and harder for the left's phony narrative about an insurrection to stick," Braynard told Bannon. "We're going to push back on the phony narrative that there was an insurrection."
He went on to defend the Capitol rioters as he falsely claimed the federal building breach was "largely peaceful" and "egged on in many cases by the Capitol Police." Speaking to HuffPost, Braynard also discussed the protest and insisted it is "only in support of 'nonviolent' Capitol protesters."
Despite Braynard's claims about the lack of violence at the Capitol, footage of the harrowing events suggests otherwise. The federal building was vandalized, lawmakers were placed in danger and hundreds of people were injured — including 138 law enforcement officers.
