Louisiana Republican slammed for ‘grandstanding’ against Biden while Hurricane Ida ravages his state

This week, Louisiana has been pounded by a hurricane that, in terms of intensity, is being compared to Hurricane Katrina — the 2005 disaster that caused historic flooding in New Orleans. And one of the state's far-right GOP congressmen, Rep. Clay Higgins, is drawing criticism for "grandstanding" against President Joe Biden in Washington, D.C. while his district is coping with Hurricane Ida.
In response to the Taliban having taken over Afghanistan, Higgins has introduced a resolution calling for Biden, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Gen. Mark Milley (chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) to resign. The 60-year-old Higgins, as part of his anti-Biden theatrics, floated the idea of Vice President Kamala Harris taking over as president and said, "You put her in office; let's see what she's got."
Emily C. Singer, a reporter for the American Independent, tweeted:
Higgins' home state is flooded and without power and his constituents are suffering. Yet he's grandstanding in DC because....https://twitter.com/AndrewSolender/status/1432746357937299460 …— Emily C. Singer (@Emily C. Singer) 1630429646
Singer isn't the only Twitter user who wondered why Higgins was focused so heavily on Biden when his state was being slammed by a devastating hurricane. Some Twitter users unfavorably compared Higgins to Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who drew widespread criticism earlier this year after leaving for Cancun, Mexico when his state was suffering widespread power outages during a severe cold snap:

You would think Congressman Higgins would be in Lafayette seeing how he can help his constituents.https://www.klfy.com/lafayette-parish/guillory-issues-state-of-emergency-for-lafayette-parish/amp/ …— Tyler Daniels (@Tyler Daniels) 1630432031
IDK, if my district in LA was without power, and my constituents lacked water, food, shelter all while fighting #COVID I would not be cosplaying insurrectionist in Washington.

Then again, Clay Higgins wasn't pretending.— Dorsey Mc- Get Vaccinated Enjoy Summer 🌞🌞💉💉😷 (@Dorsey Mc- Get Vaccinated Enjoy Summer 🌞🌞💉💉😷) 1630430929
Because the voters in his state like to be abused? SMH every time I see one of thes elected officials use taxpayer money for BS and MSM covers wall to wall about the politician but not the terrible state their state/district is in.— Cats for Peace (@Cats for Peace) 1630433987
What the USA needs now is stability. Demanding a change of president is tantamount to asking for dissolution of the republic.— Cannabis West (@Cannabis West) 1630428537
This is all theatre. They have no legitimate plans to govern, so all they do is stoke the fire of political division. It's all they have to keep their base.— CLT49 (@CLT49) 1630429878
Guess what demanding the President resign and $3 gets you? A cup of coffee....— MS Ferr (@MS Ferr) 1630429502
Ridiculous grandstanding. Doesn't he have hurricane victims to help or something?— Bluejay 🐝💙💛🚂 ✈🚗🖖🤓 (@Bluejay 🐝💙💛🚂 ✈🚗🖖🤓) 1630432413
such a fucking waste of time. there are no grounds to ask Biden to resign. instead of doing this, why don't they legislate actual policy?— Jessica Leigh (@Jessica Leigh) 1630428428
