A former federal prosecutor on Friday lambasted former President Donald Trump as he insisted that he was at the helm of "an unabated crime wave as president," according to The HuffPost.

When Glenn Kirschner appeared on MSNBC's "Last Word," he did not mince words when it came to sharing his brutally honest opinion of Trump.

In fact, Kirschner, who worked as a prosecutor at the District of Columbia's U.S. attorney's office for more than two decades, noted that there are so many offenses against the former disgraced president so he did not narrow his concerns down to one isolated circumstance.

From Trump's two impeachments to abuse of power, his handling of the COVID pandemic, and his administration's efforts to block Congressional efforts to affirm the Electoral College vote, Kirschner noted a number of the former president's failed efforts.

"There are so many other offenses," Kirschner said. "There are countless, avoidable COVID deaths that I think could be pursued by the states. Then, of course, there is inciting the insurrection. We saw it with our own eyes."

Kirschner went on to express concern about the message prosecutors could send if they fail to hold Trump accountable for his actions. In short, Kirschner made it clear that he believes the message will be profound like an open invitation for more Trump-like characters to emerge in the years to come.

"If he is not held accountable, if we don't prosecute him, then what we are doing is we are encouraging tomorrow's version of Donald Trump," he added. "We have to prosecute today's version of Donald Trump to send the message that we will not tolerate a runaway criminal president."

According to Kirschner, the future of America's democracy could be determined by how prosecutors move forward with holding Trump accountable.
