Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) has deeply criticized Republican lawmakers for failing to admit the severity of the disturbing events that transpired on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6.

On Thursday, June 17, Gallego offered a colorful response to the 21 Republican lawmakers who voted against honoring the dedicated police officers who protected them amid the Jan. 6 insurrection. Despite the dangerous position lawmakers were put in when the angry mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, Republican lawmakers have dismissed the courageous efforts of the Capitol Police, reports The HuffPost.

With a clip of a recent MSNBC interview documenting what transpired, Gallego insisted that Capitol Police officers were treated like "s--t." He tweeted, "It's true some GOP members of Congress who are treating Capitol Police like s--t were the most scared on the floor."

He added, "Jody Hice took apart a hand sanitizer station to make into a club, Gosar & Biggs were the first to leave the floor and Rep. Clyde was screaming like a banshee."

In the clip, the opposing lawmakers were also criticized for their failure to acknowledge the courageous work of the U.S. Capitol officers. Nicole Wallace offered her take on the situation as he noted that Republican lawmakers were just as afraid as anyone else although they are adamantly denying it.

"These are the only cops those GOP Congressmen can't avoid... It doesn't make any sense... It is a ridiculous dynamic. We know they were scared that day because we saw them hightailing it out of that room. We saw them calling for help"

Gallego's tweet comes after months of Republicans' endless efforts to downplay the Capitol riots and all that transpired. Although multiple individuals losing their lives, Republicans have refused to accept many truths about the riots as they've pushed various conspiracy theories to deflect from their own party's involvement in the grimly historic incident.
