Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), a former U.S. Navy SEAL, is facing stark criticism for his recent action video skit. For many , Crenshaw's latest stunt is exactly why a substantial number of Americans do not take politicians seriously.

Now, United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Tony Thomas is slamming Crenshaw and describing his video as an "embarrassing" skit similar to a parody seen on "Saturday Night Live" or "Comedy Central."

"Watched this twice now. I was sure it must be an SNL or Comedy Central skit," Thomas tweeted, "Nope, just the base(r) level our political environment slips to with each succeeding day. There is a reason 100M people opted not to vote again this year. Embarrassing."

From fearmongering, to the use of a British voiceover in an American political action clip, Crenshaw's action video miserably missed the mark, according to Twitter users who have chimed in.

One Twitter user wrote, "What is this nonsense? And who thought it was a good idea? It's like a bad trailer for a C-grade action movie accompanied by a British narrator. What does any of this have to do with an American election?"

Former Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) special agent Asha Rangappa also lambasted Crenshaw tweeting "There are so many bizarre things about this commercial but I want to know why you're taking instructions from a woman with a British accent to get to Georgia."

In Crenshaw's attempt to "save Georgia" ahead of the upcoming runoff, many Twitter users also reminded him of his own wrongdoings as they tweeted about the smear campaign he was accused of creating to discredit a female veteran who was sexually assaulted. Crenshaw has not yet responded to the backlash surrounding his action clip.
