Mexicans Rolled Out the Unwelcoming Carpet to Trump Before His Visit

Under the hashtags “you are not welcome here” and “Trump with all respect” Mexicans have been excoriating the Republican nominee for U.S. president with remarks both humorous and hateful, in anticipation of the billionaire developer's visit Wednesday in Mexico City with President Enrique Peña Nieto.

  (Translation: "#MrTrumpwithallrespect Can I have your autograph on my visa?")  

Trump has famously described Mexican immigrants as “rapists” and has pledged to build a wall on the U.S. southern border and require Mexico pay for it, in part by blocking remittances sent by undocumented Mexicans in the U.S. until the government picked up the tab.

Beginning to lose pace in the polls against his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, Trump will deliver an immigration address Wednesday night in Phoenix, Arizona. Trump decided to accept Peña Nieto's invitation sent both to him and his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

Hillary, for her part, has not yet accepted the invitation but has criticized Trump's visit, saying it will not change anything about what he has previously said about the country or its people. Meanwhile, academics, politicians, intellectuals and all kinds of personalities in Mexico have also joined the discussion on social media expressing dissatisfaction about the visit of Trump.

"Listen @realDonaldTrump, we Mexicans expect nothing less than an apology for calling us 'criminals and rapists,'” said the renowned historian Enrique Krauze. “I propose to say out Enrique out Trump, these two idiots symbolize everything that is wrong with North America.” Said the analyst John Ackerman.
