WATCH: Jon Stewart Ridicules GOP's Response To Pope's Climate Change Encyclical

Thursday, Jon Stewart took some time out to catch up with the leading GOP candidates' response to the Pope's blockbuster Encyclical calling for action on climate change. Noted Catholics like Rick Santorum and Jeb Bush, normally the first to flaunt religion's place in politics, were suddenly playing the part of ACLU when it came to whether or not the issue of man made global warming was a moral, and not just political, issue.

"I think we're better off leaving science to the scientists and letting [Catholics] focus on what they're good at: theology and morality". Santorum said in a clip. Stewart smugly grinned. "By the way! What do the scientists - who have an overwhelming consensus about what causes man made climate change - have to say about man made climate change?"

And this is the current right wing shell game at work right now on this issue. Scientists aren't experts. Religious authorities aren't experts. But somehow corporate lobbyists by trade like Rick Santorum are. It's all very confusing and full of amusing contortions on the part of the party of morality.
