Feds Raid Colorado Marijuana Suppliers

Drugs

On Tuesday, agents from the DEA were assisted by Denver Police in raiding multiple locations throughout the city involved in the cultivation of marijuana.

Denver Police tweeted on Tuesday “ALERT: Area law enforcement are conducting an ongoing investigation involving illegal drug activity. No further info at this time."

According to Associated Press, authorities seized thousands of marijuana plants and up to $1 million in cash as part of the investigation tied to illegal marijuana distribution in Minnesota, said a federal official not authorized to speak publicly about the case.

No arrests were made in conjunction with the raids, which the official said involved people from Minnesota who had come to Colorado to set up their allegedly illegal marijuana growing operations.

Spokespeople from the Marijuana Enforcement Division in Colorado refused to comment, but the industrial area involved in one of the raids is a common location for both legal recreational and legal medical marijuana cultivators.

Cannabis business experts in Denver explained that increasingly, small scale illegal growers are setting up shop in these areas, hoping to go unnoticed among the many hundreds of thousands of square feet of legal marijuana cultivation taking place.
