The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg is weighing in on the pre-dawn Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raid at U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home, which was conducted as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into alleged immigration fraud. Goldberg and her co-hosts at the roundtable dissected the ordeal during the October 13 episode of the daytime talk show.

Goldberg cut to a clip of President Donald Trump’s response to Omar’s statement that the raid was an orchestrated attack. In the clip, Trump says Omar is a “disaster” who is “from a country without laws, police, or military” and that she demands constitutional rights and wants to tell the administration how to run the country. Goldberg shot back at Trump’s remarks, saying, “Well, somebody’s gotta tell us what’s in the Constitution because you don’t seem to know.”

Co-host Anna Navarro chimed in, sharing her sentiments, asking Trump, “Didn’t two of his wives come from the former Soviet Union?” Goldberg reminded the audience that Omar denies any wrongdoing and that historically, the Justice Department has cautioned against these types of probes against candidates this close to an election. With midterms approaching, Goldberg questioned whether the raid is indeed strategic to throw things off.

Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin also questioned the timing of the raid. Haines specifically noted that Omar has been a citizen since 2000 and has lived in the home where the raid took place since 2018, so the timing of the raid doesn’t make sense to her.

Goldberg doesn’t think the federal raid will work in Trump’s favor in the long run. “You can do all of this. You can dance. You can throw confetti in front of people. You've already shown what you think of the people,” she said to Trump. “They already know what you think of them, and we already know what you think of the countries you’ve never visited and about the people you’ve never spoken to,” she added. “You don’t know anything about them. And we all get it now. We all see what you mean.”

Omar took to social media as the raid was happening to address her followers directly and send a warning to the president. “I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement,” she said in a statement on X. “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.”
