"The View's" co-host Whoopi Goldberg on Tuesday morning slammed President Donald Trump and his administration.
After spending weeks calling protesters "domestic terrorists" for "obstructing" law enforcement, the administration "went dancing," Goldberg said.
"Baby, when I tell you yesterday, the White House was doing damage control, ooooooh!" Goldberg exclaimed."On the way, they handled this, I mean, they went dancing. They were dancing around it."
The host ran the clip of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt's Monday briefing where she tried to walk back some of the harsh language the administration has used to describe victims killed by federal agents. Reporters mentioned top Trump officials alleging that both Renee Nicole Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti were at fault for their own shooting deaths .
Leavitt called it a "fluid" situation and noted that the president doesn't use the same language as the rest of his administration when it comes to the allegations about the slain protesters. She also promised the press that U.S. Customs and Border Protection commander Greg Bovino would continue to lead CPB "throughout the country." It took only a few hours before it was announced that Bovino had been "relieved from command."
"So I got two things to say about that," Goldberg said of Leavitt. "Clearly, she did not read anything the president had to say. Because she missed everything. And then I'm going to question how she does her job."
Finally, the show played a clip from "Fox & Friends" where first lady Melania Trump was promoting her new Amazon movie filmed and promoted with the support of billionaire Jeff Bezos, said Puck News.
"Who was that?" questioned Goldberg in jest. The first lady has largely stayed away from the White House, living briefly in New York while her son was in his first year of college. Reports say she recently moved back to Mar-a-Lago.
"She looks so familiar. I don't know who she was! Who was that, Brian?" Goldberg asked.
Former Trump communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin said that the administration is making a huge mistake in thinking the problem is with its messaging, when the anger from Americans is coming from a larger culture of violence by federal agents.
"My major concern is that I think the White House is seeing it as a messaging problem rather than a policy and execution problem. So Bovino has been sidelined and reports that Kristi Noem may be on her way out. As well as her senior advisor, Corey Lewandowski. We don't know that yet," she added.
"Here, the thing, it's much more than that. The American public has always believed in securing the border and prosecuting undocumented immigrants who committed violent offenses," Griffin continued. "What we don't believe in is infringing on First Amendment rights, keeping databases on protesters, citizens being baselessly being called domestic terrorists, saying the Second Amendment is essentially void. Telling citizens to carry papers just because, entering homes without warrants, capturing citizens and immigration raids and killing U.S. citizens."
Ana Navarro, a long-time "Never Trump" Republican, took aim at the first lady, and her plea for "peace."
"Melania, I'm glad you're asking for peace, but until and unless you get your husband to take those troops out of Minneapolis, until and unless we get a full, thorough, unbiased investigation, until and unless Kristi Noem gets fired ... until that happens, what Melania says, 'I really don't care, do you?'" Navarro quipped, recalling a jacket Melania wore during her husband's first administration as children were being seized and detained in large holding cells.
