A couple in Rhode Island who paid more than $600 for a piece of President Donald Trump’s merchandise was "disappointed" when they realized it was missing a letter.

WJAR, an NBC affiliate Rhode Island outlet, reported Tuesday that a watch Middletown resident Tim Petit ordered for his wife, Melanie, had a typo. It said "R-U-M-P."

“The T is missing. It just says R-U-M-P," Melanie told NBC 10 News.

“I just thought it was really nice. It was beautiful. And I knew it would be something that she’d like,” the man said.

Petit said he purchased the watch after hearing an ad on the radio. “With the president’s voice hawking the watches. I was curious, so I went on to the website,” he said, per the report.

The website featured videos featuring Trump, where he states, “It’s Trump time.” Petit selected the pink Inauguration First Lady model watch for his wife.

Melanie was disappointed. “How could they process this and go through something without checking their work?” she asked.

Petit further told NBC 10 News, “I’m very disappointed. I wanted to do a special thing for her. And we expected that it would have the integrity of the President of the United States and good follow-through.”

When the couple reached out to the company to report the mistake, they initially received no response.

But Petit later contacted NBC 10 and said the company had called him back and said they would immediately replace the watch. He was also offered an $800 coupon to also buy something else.
