A faction of former President Donald Trump's die-hard supporters who crashed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' (R) book signing were asked to leave after making a scene, new footage shows.
On Tuesday, February 28, the group arrived at Books-a-Million in Leesburg, Florida, wearing Trump paraphernalia.
Although DeSantis has not officially announced his intent to enter the 2020 presidential race, Trump and his supporters have been on high alert because the Florida governor appears to be a viable contender for the GOP candidacy.
In the clip, shared by the group Patriot Takes, a security guard can be seen addressing the group of Trump supporters while warning them of his intent to call the Leesburg Police Department.
“Because they told me to say anyone wearing Trump [gear] has to go right now,” the guard explained later saying, “I’m sorry guys. I have to call LPD now.”
“That’s fine,” said a Trump supporter.
In a later report, Villages-News also noted: “When the Trumpers refused to leave the parking lot, a Leesburg police captain was called by mall security to eject the them from mall property. He advised the Trump backers that they were on private property and would have to move to the sidewalk. The protesters grudgingly obeyed.”
The latest exchange between the guard and Trump supporters comes as new polls suggest the former president might actually have more of an edge in 2024 than previously thought. New poll projections released on Tuesday, February 28 suggest Trump leads DeSantis by a staggering 30 points.
