In a delayed press conference on Tuesday, President Donald Trump spoke in the briefing room about his accomplishments from the first year of his second term. He then brought out a packet of laminated photos claiming that the individuals were wanted immigrants and criminals.
The meandering speech pivoted briefly to Renee Nicole Good, the Minnesota mother who was shot and killed by an ICE officer.
He briefly returned to speak about his accomplishments before throwing the stack of papers down and returning to the laminated photos of convicted people.
Former GOP spokesperson Tim Miller compiled a running list of Trump's meandering statements, with his own commentary.
"It’s no wonder the Trump show has the worst ratings ever. The combination of boredom and insanity," said The Lincoln Project's Rick Wilson.
"I love Hispanic. They are unbelievable ... I love the Hispanic. They're the best people we have in the Hispanic," Miller quoted Trump saying.
"People talk about the frog boiling in water but this is not an experience I have. Watching him at these pressers is still so f—— weird," he added.
"We have the Gulf of America now. It's great," he quoted Trump saying.
"Think Trump just mentioned docking, but I'm speaking out a bit now," Miller said.
"Donald Trump is showing off photos of people who allegedly committed crimes that justify the occupation of all of Minneapolis. Look at this guy who was charged with sex assault and obstructing justice. Boy, imagine letting someone like that walk around free," said historian Kevin M. Kruse.
Some alleged that Trump was detached from reality, while others said the president sounded "stoned" during the over hour-long speech.
"This has got to be one of the most boring press conferences I’ve watched. Donald Trump holding up endless pictures of convicts," agreed author and journalist Ian Fraser.
"Trump claims that he was once protected by Hell's Angels. He probably means when he was onstage with Mick at Altamont," quipped The Atlantic's Tom Nichols.
"Trump is very low energy until he gets to the super racist part of his speech, the word 'Somalians' brings him to life," commented BrooklynDad, also known as author Majid M. Padellan.
The Bulwark's Sam Stein remarked, "Trump currently having a moment with a paper clip." Political consultant Eddie Vale added it was a "binder clip." Trump alleged he could have hurt himself with the clip, but had he done so he wouldn't have revealed it.
