Things got heated on the second day of FBI Director Kash Patel's Senate Judiciary Hearing, with the Justice Department's handling of the files of the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein taking center stage.

On Wednesday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) played video clips of a beleaguered Patel, whose first day on the stand was explosive, to say the least.

The clips showed the FBI Director over the years claiming that the FBI was covering up secrets in the Epstein files, "playing Patel's own conspiracy theory game," said MSNBC's Ken Dilanian, "and using it against him."

When Raskin asked Patel if he released all evidence the FBI has seized in the Epstein case, a brutal back and forth resulted in which Patel said, "Do you have any idea how the law works? Do you want me to explain how it works" to which Raskin said, "I want you to follow your own word, director Patel."

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), who served as lead council in President Donald Trump's first impeachment, excoriated Patel over Epstein, too.

In a testy exchange, a combative Patel asked, "Do you know how court orders work?" to which Goldman, replied, "I was a prosecutor. A real prosecutor for ten years."

Goldman then laid into him, adding, "I want to understand what the court order prevents you from releasing witness statements that the FBI took... you are hiding the Epstein files. You are part of the cover-up."

"Patel remains as pugnacious and defiant as ever," Dilanian said.
