Senator demands to know how Trump chief of staff has seen Epstein docs

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) is demanding answers after it was uncovered that President Donald Trump's chief of staff viewed the investigation files from the Jeffrey Epstein probe.

Writing in a letter Tuesday, Whitehouse referenced the VanityFair article in which chief Susie Wiles confessed that she'd read the files, reporter Scott MacFarlane posted.

"In a recent Vanity Fair profile, you said you have read 'The Epstein file' and that President Trump 'is in the file;' 'was on [Epstein's] plane' and is 'on the manifest.' Please be kind enough to explain when and where and under what authority you gained access to this material as requested below," he wrote.

Those details include what in "the Epstein file" she was referring to in the article, whether the material she viewed had been presented to the grand jury, when she first gained access, the purpose of viewing the docs and whether she shared any information with Trump or they discussed what to redact or withheld.
