FBI unsure if bullet or shrapnel grazed Trump’s ear during PA shooting

When former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13, his right ear was bleeding as he was led away by U.S. Secret Service agents.
Two days later, on the first night of the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Trump appeared on stage with his right ear bandaged. And he was still wearing the bandage when he gave his acceptance speech on July 18 — the final night of the convention.
Since then, there has been much discussion of the nature of the injuries. Trump reportedly never required any stitches, but his ear was clearly bleeding after the attack.
During a congressional hearing on July 24, FBI Director Christopher Wray testified that the agency is still trying to determine if his ear was grazed by a bullet or a piece of shrapnel during the attack.
Wrap told House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), "There is some question about whether or not it was a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear, so it is conceivable, as I sit here right now, I don't know whether that bullet, in addition to causing the grazing, could have also landed somewhere else."
The Daily Beast's Zachary Folk reports, "Speaking at the Republican National Convention just days after the assassination attempt, Trump said the bullet 'came within a quarter of an inch of taking my life'…. Trump's former White House physician, Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), later told a conservative talk show that he examined the wound in the days immediately after the shooting."
Jackson told the host, "It (the bullet) was far enough away from his head that there was no concussive effect from the bullet, and it just took the top of his ear off."
