'He’s saying Black folks are criminals': Trump roasted over 'casual racism' at SC rally

At a Friday night rally in South Carolina, former President Donald Trump appeared to imply that the majority of African Americans are criminals.
While speaking to a crowd at the Black Conservative Federation in Columbia, South Carolina, Trump suggested that his four separate criminal indictments across three jurisdictions — totaling 91 felony charges — was a strength when engaging with Black voters. The clip of his remark was initially tweeted by the X/Twitter account @acyn.
"And then I got indicted a second time, and a third time and a fourth time, and a lot of people said that that's why the Black people like me," Trump said. "Because they have been hurt so badly and discriminated against and they actually viewed me as being discriminated against, it's — it's been pretty amazing."

"Hey Black Trump supporters.........In case it's not clear.... he's saying Black folks are criminals," X user and US Marine Corps veteran Marc Xavier Adams tweeted. Journalist Thor Benson quote-tweeted the clip and simply commented "Uhhh."
"If [President Joe] Biden said anything approximating this the New York Times would immediately release a special print edition with 12 columns about why he needs to retire," tweeted journalist Aaron Rupar. X user @tiffany4mahogany wrote that the clip illustrated why she "could never be a Republican is because I would be required to smile and laugh at this like it isn’t casual racism."
Liberal influencer Tony Michaels tweeted that Trump should "say the part where they like your sneakers." That appears to be a reference to a recent Fox News segment in which commentator Raymond Arroyo asserted that Trump had made inroads with Black voters with his unveiling of new branded sneakers.
"Even the sneaker thing. I was on social media last night. Very interesting as you see Black support eroding from Joe Biden," Arroyo said. "This is connecting with Black America because they love sneakers... This is a big deal. Certainly in the inner city."
