President Donald Trump's conversation about his health with the Wall street Journal prompted one medical professor to question some of the revelations.
First, Trump admitted that he takes more aspirin than his doctors said he should, saying it thins his blood and he bruises more easily. Trump says he wants "nice thin blood flowing through my heart."
Speaking to CNN on Friday morning, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, an ER professor, questioned Trump's medical prognosis.
"Boy, like the bruise, this story that just doesn't seem to going away," said the doctor.
Trump often wears band-aids puts makeup over bruises on his hands. At one point, Trump even covered his right hand with his left while photographers were taking photos.
"What doesn't make sense to me is why somebody who is obviously self conscious of of of the discoloration on his hand would take a dose of aspirin which would be more likely to cause bruising," asked Reiner.
"And we know with clarity that a higher dose of aspirin causes more bleeding, which is why we don't use that dose of aspirin. So why, in the face of something that obviously bothers him, would he insist on taking a higher dose of aspirin? So it just makes no sense to me," he continued.
Another point Reiner made is that there's no medical history of Trump having any kind of heart disease or stroke.
"So why is he even taking the aspirin?" the doctor asked.
All the doctor knows with an absolute certainty is that aspirin gets recommended to cardiac patients.
"That dose in the United States is 81 milligrams," the doctor said. "So, a quarter of the dose that he's taking. So, if I, you know, if I go in and take care of somebody who's having a heart attack and we we fix their coronary artery. The dose of aspirin that they go home on, this is someone who's had a heart attack, would be 81 milligrams a day. So, it doesn't make any sense to me why he would be taking 325 milligrams unless there is a medical history that you know, we don't know anything about and again makes zero sense in the in the setting of increased bleeding."
