Through all three of his elections, whether he won or lost, President Donald Trump’s most loyal voting bloc was voters aged 65 and up. But now, new polling shows that his support has plummeted among this essential group.

In an Economist/YouGov poll released Tuesday, it was revealed that Trump’s net approval among voters 65+ has plummeted to -17 points. That’s down from a +5 approval from the same group one year ago.

“I'm that voting block,” posted self-proclaimed “J6 activist” Trisha Hope, who served as a delegate at the 2024 Republican National Convention. She notes that she attended 42 Trump rallies where she frequently sat in the front row to show her support for Trump. “Today, I find him repulsive.”

According to Hope, her opinion of the president changed in July last year, when Trump whined, “Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein?”

His dismissive response to pressure to release the Epstein files angered many of his supporters, for whom exposing the truth about the infamous sex trafficker and his cabal of elite clients had become a fundamental issue over the past decade.

At the time, Trump posted that his supporters should "not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about.” But as it became increasingly clear that his followers did in fact care a great deal about the matter, the administration was eventually forced to release the files, though few were satisfied by the way it was done. In a poll released in March, it was found that over 70 percent of Americans disapproved of Trump’s handling of the file release, with 3 of 5 respondents saying they believe Trump committed crimes with Epstein, and over 70 percent asserting that the government was either “probably” or “definitely” covering something up.

Now due to a combination of Epstein, the bad economy, airport chaos, and consequential war on Iran, Trump’s most loyal supporters are abandoning him in droves.

What’s more, he’s also taken major losses across other age groups. Among voters 45-64, his approval has cratered from +15 at the start of the term to -17 now, and among those 18-29, he’s gone from a high of +9 in February 2025 to an abysmal -40 percent today.
