CBS is settling a suit launched by the president of the United States, but Daily Beast reports the segment at the center of Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit over the show’s interview with Kamala Harris is winning an Emmy.

The news segment was nominated on Thursday for a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Edited Interview, despite President Donald Trump claiming on Truth Social that the show “cheated and defrauded the American People” after it aired a different part of Harris’ answer to a question over the war in Gaza. He also claimed 60 Minutes, CBS, and parent company Paramount Global admitted to the “crime” of airing a different portion of the answer to the question.

Paramount is looking to settle the suit quickly before it upsets the company’s upcoming merger with Skydance.

Despite Trump’s accusations, observers hailed the nomination on X.

CNN chief media analyst Brian Stelter pointed out that ‘60 Minutes’ “picked up 13 Emmy nominations today, including an outstanding-edited-interview nod for the Kamala Harris segment that caused Trump to sue CBS,” and added that “Trump falsely says the editing was a ‘crime.’ With this nom, TV news pros are saying it was award-worthy.”

“That 60 min didn’t even tell the whole story of that makes Trump look bad,” posted Podcaster David Getzin.

The nomination also got a nod from Variety Business Editor Todd Spangler, while legal analyst Amee Vanderpool posted that “Trump cut his interview short because Leslie Stahl was calling him out on his blatant lies about what he has done and said in the past, then Trump broke their agreement to air it all in a light that he mistakenly thinks flatters him.”

Daily Beast claims the “odds are high” of a win by ‘60 Minutes', making that its third consecutive victory in the category “after interviews with Ukrainian President (and Trump punching bag) Volodymyr Zelensky in 2023 and correspondent Lesley Stahl’s interview with a freed Israeli hostage last year.”
